Section 4: First aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures

Skin

Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

Eyes

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of one percent (1%) physiological saline solution for five (5) minutes while holding eyelids open. If no saline is available, flush with plenty of clean water for fifteen (15) minutes. See a physician. If eye irritation persists, get medical attention. Water (moisture) swells this product into a gelatinous film which may be difflicult to remove from the eye using only water.

Inhaled

Remove exposed person to fresh air if adverse effects are observed. If breathing is labored, administer oxygen. If breathing has stopped, apply artificial respiration. If irritation persists or if toxic symptoms are observed, get medical attention.

Swallowed

Treat symptomatically. Get medical attention.    Advice for first-aid providers When providing first aid always protect yourself against exposure to chemicals or blood born diseases by wearing gloves, masks and eye protection. If providing CPR use mouthpieces, resuscitation bags, pocket masks or other ventilation devices. After providing first aid wash your exposed skin with soap and water.

4.2 Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

See section 11.

4.3 Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed Note to physician: Treat symptomatically.

Section 5: Fire - Fighting measures

5.1 Extinguishing Media

CO2, dry chemical, foam, water spray, water fog. Carbon dioxide may be ineffective on larger fires due to a lack of cooling capacity which may result in reignition. Avoid hose stream or any method which will create dust clouds.

5.2 Special hazards arising from substance or mixture

Solid does not readily release flammable vapors. This product has not been evaluated for dust explosion potential. Material can form an explosive organic dust air mixture. Take care to minimize airborne dust. See section 10 for additional information.

5.3 Advice for firefighters

Wear full protective firegear including self-containing breathing apparatus operated in the positive pressure mode with full facepiece, coat, pants, gloves and boots. Do not use a water jet.

Section 6: Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal protective equipment must be worn. Caution - this material is slippery when wet.

Section 11: Toxicological Information

11.1 Information on toxicological effects

Acute toxicity Oral

The LD50 in rats is > 10,000 mg/Kg. Based on data from components or similar materials.

Dermal The LD50 in rabbits is > 2000 mg/Kg. Based on data from components or similar materials.

Inhalation

Avoid inhalation of dust. Animal studies indicate the inhalation of respirable polyacrylate dust may cause inflammatory changes in the lung.

Skin corrosion / irritation

May cause slight skin irritation. Does not meet Canadian D2B or EU R38 criteria. Based on data from components or similar materials. Contact dermatitis may occur in sensitive individuals under extreme and unusual conditions of prolonged and repeated contact, such as high exposure accompanied by elevated temperature and occlusion by clothing. This effect may be the result of the product's hygroscopic properties, abrasion, or pH.

Serious eye damage / irritation

Weak to moderate eye irritant. Does not meet Canadian D2B or EU R36 criteria. Based on data from components or similar materials. Particulates may cause mechanical irritation. Solid particles (powder or dust) on the eye may cause pain and irritation.

Respiratory Irritation If material is misted or if vapors are generated from heating, exposure may cause irritation of mucous membranes and the upper respiratory tract. Based on data from components or similar materials. Breathing of dust may cause coughing, mucous production, and shortness of breath.

Respiratory or skin sensitization Skin

No data available to indicate product or components may be a skin sensitizer. Respiratory No data available to indicate product or components may be respiratory sensitizers.

Germ cell mutagenicity

No data available to indicate product or any components present at greater than 0.1% are mutagenic or genotoxic.

Carcinogenicity Not listed as a carcinogen or suspect carcinogen by NTP, IARC or OSHA.

Reproductive Toxicity No data available to indicate either product or components present at greater than 0.1% that may cause reproductive toxicity.

STOT repeated exposure A two-year inhalation study in rats exposed to a respirable, water-absorbent sodium polyacrylate dust resulted in lung effects such as inflammation, hyperplasia, and tumors. There were no observed adverse effects at exposures of 0.05 mg/m3. In addition, long-term medical monitoring of potentially exposed workers has not revealed lung effects such as those observed in the rat. However, the inhalation of respirable dusts should be avoided by implementing respiratory protection measures and observing the recommended permissible exposure limit of 0.05 mg/m3.

Other information Pre-existing skin conditions may be aggravated by prolonged or repeated exposure. Persons with sensitive airways (e.g., asthmatics) may react to vapors. This material readily absorbs moisture and may become thick and gelatinous upon contact with mucous membranes of the eye, or upon inhalation into the nasal passages.

GMO Declaration

We declare that at present all our regisered and commercially available ingredients, extracts, oils, plants and skincare products are derived by traditional plant breeding methods. We do not have any ingredient, extract, oil or skincare product from genetically modified material

To the best of our knowledge, the information contained in the sheet is correct. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any consequences from its use.

Animal Testing Declaration

UK: As set out under the conditions in Schedule 34 - Amendment of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and related amendments of The Product Safety and Metrology etc. (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 neither the cosmetic nor its component product has been tested on animal purposes

EU:As set out in under the conditions in 1223/2009. Art. 15 Nar. Parliament and the Council of the EU 952/2013 neither the cosmetic nor its component product has been tested on animal purposes

WE DO NOT TEST ANY OF OUR PRODUCTS ON ANIMALS AND NEVER HAVE, WE PREFER TO RELY ON OUR KNOWLEDGE OF ESSENTIAL OILS, INGREDIENTS, PLANTS, FLOWERS AND ESTABLISHED TECHNICAL INFORMATION AND PROFESSIONALS TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE AND SAFE PRODUCTS.

We believe there is already a “safe” and known group of product ingredients used in the cosmetics industry which leave enough scope to be creative and innovative in product formulation without the need for anymore animal testing on new experimental ingredients.

Our suppliers each also agree to not to carry out animal testing on the products and ingredients we purchase. We have a self-imposed cut-off date of 2006 (this was the date our cosmetic formulations came into being) although in reality our suppliers normally have animal testing dates far in excess of this or have never tested at all.

We do not conduct any form of animal testing.

We do not commission any form of animal testing from a third party.

We operate a fixed cut-off date for animal testing and ingedients, which means we will not use any ingredient that has been tested or retested on animals for cosmetics purposes since January 1, 2006

If we find that a company is involved in animal testing in anyway that purchases from us, then we will cease supply immediately. It is a term and condition that by purchasing from Naturallythinking you will not involve yourself or your company in any form of Animal Testing, any violation of this will be dealt with as per any violation of our terms and condtions
